Halloween Skull

Good morning everyone, Steph Ackerman here creating with a paper mache skull.  It's almost Halloween and it's time to create something fun.  Creating with Helmar Adhesives makes it so easy.

I first painted the skull with gesso as I wanted some areas of white to show.

I wanted to cover the entire skull with assorted papers and enamel powders so I tore assorted papers into different sizes and shapes.  I used  Helmar Decoupage and Craft Paste as an adhesive and placed the torn scraps of paper about the skull.

Once all the papers were in place I painted the entire skull with the  Decoupage and Craft Paste  to seal the papers in place.

Next, I added assorted colors of enamel embossing powders around the skull and heat set.  I added them in a random fashion as I was not looking for perfection.

Lastly, I sprayed the skull with Helmar Crystal Kote Matte Varnish to seal the skull.  This provides a non-yellowing permanent clear matt finish and protection from the elements.  This varnish ensures that your projects will last a long time.

Now it was time to add decorative elements.

I hung bobbins in the eye sockets, hanging them from wire.  Then I used Helmar Gemstone Glue to adhere the gems to the mouth.  Isn't she amazing?
