Hello and welcome! Today I have a super cute layout of my puppy playing in his pool on a hot Australian day.
I chose a cut file that gave the illusion of water bubbles (if you do not have a cutting machine you could simply cut varying sized circles and place randomly over your base paper).
To create texture and interest I have filled in the circles with different paper designs. To add more texture I have randomly sewn through some of the circles. To attach cut file and paper circles I have used Helmar Professional Acid Free glue. With my background completed I attached my photo, tucking a tab under the photo first. When the glue had dried I then have sewn over the tab for more texture.
Scrapbooking involves using many different materials not just patterned paper and as you will see on this layout I have a wood, tin and heavy cardstock. When using different material types often one adhesive will not work efficiently on all product.
Here I have used three Helmar adhesives that ensure all my elements will remain in place for many years to come.
Helmar Professional PVA Woodworking glue
For my wood embellishments and title I have used the PVA glue to ensure they do not shift or discolour.
I have used the Super Tac glue to attach my tin flair. My flair was instantly fixed into place and certainly won't be coming off my page!
I have used the Acid Free glue on the cardstock die cut embellishments. As it is PH neutral, sets clear and will not yellow I now use this to attach all my precious photos to my layouts.
Now the fun bit….adding my embellishments and title around the photo. I tend to place my embellishments off centre when I have my photo centred for visual interest as you will see in the below close up photos of my layout.
Layering, adding texture by using varied materials really do create a visually interesting layout.
I finished this layout off by sewing all the way around my layout (as you can see I am a fan of sewing on my layouts).
