Greetings everyone, Martha here to scream at the top of my lungs….School is out…summer is here…it's now BEACH time! Living close to the Outer Banks, NC has it's advantages as we are only a hop, skip & stones throw away. The water has always had a strong pull on my spirit and you will find that it often shows up in different projects…the colors, the feelings, the feel of the sun, sand & water…ahh!
This week the Helmar DT is showcasing Professional Acid Free Glue. This is a paper to paper glue and you can find all the information here.
I started the project by cutting up pieces of left-over tags & scrap paper to create a layered background.
After arranging the papers I glued them down using the Acid Free Glue. I purposely didn't cover all of the entire paper squares as I wanted create some texture for the background.
I also used Acid Free Glue for gluing my Hipstamatic photos onto Grunge Board. I want the pictures to have a feeling of depth and lift also.
After I prepared the canvas and photos I preceded to gesso the canvas…you can still see peeks of paper here & there and some areas have a heavier gesso coat the others. I also used a favorite stencil from Balzer Designs, Pomengranate and applied gesso over that. After the gesso was dry I added various embellishments for texture…a stencil, chipboard, sea glass, sea shells, a broken memo pin. The background I splattered with Tattered Angels Caribbean Blue Glimmer Mist & Ocean Spray Glimmer Glam. Remnants of tags became the background for a quick quote lettered with my favorite Faber-Castell Pitt Artist Pen and The Robin's Nest Dew Drops from the Beach Collection were added. Of course to assemble the canvas panel I used a multitude of Helmar products to adhere all the various embellishments used ~ Helmar 450 Quick Dry, Gemstone Adhesive and Liquid Scrap Dots. Again I purposely didn't adhere the entire picture down so some of the edges would be lifted.
