Happy New Year everyone, Lydia back to share another creation featuring the Helmar Decoupage and Craft Paste.
Unfortunately I don't have a process for you today as this project was actually part of my Year 10 Art assessment.
To begin this blog post you're probably wondering what the title and meaning of this post means so here you go, Through this artwork titled 'Atelophobia' which means the fear of imperfection and the fear of never being good enough comes from the issue of mental health. This piece of 3D assemblage shows a womanly figure in a dress wrapped with a barbed wire cage around her. The barbed wire cage represents that it is tough to struggle with fear and that sometimes there is no way out. The stitching at the bottom of the dress represents the positive side of fixing and over coming the fear. And the dress represents that even though you think you will never be good enough on the inside that you are beautiful on the outside even if you don't see that.
So the story behind this is that we had to make a assemblage figure, and this is what I made. All my adhesive was Helmar but specifically I mainly use the Decoupage and Craft Paste for the main corset of the figure.
This corset is made out of multiple layers like paper mache of book paper and the Helmar Decoupage and Craft Paste.
I also used Helmar 450 Quick Dry Adhesive to adhere all my assemblage pieces with.
As you might see above a little ball of thread, well I painted on some of the Helmar Fabric Stiffener to make it stiff and not come undone.
