After I started scrapping, I really wanted to start trying out for design teams, I loved the hobby so much and really thought a DT gig would be incredibly fun (and I'd get some product to boot!). But a major hurdle for me was the requirement to create "altered" items!
Altered items seemed like an untainable goal – – especially when I would read complicated instructions from other scrappers on how they created their "altered" masterpieces.
Enter Helmar……
Well, you can now count me in as a "Altered Artist", if I had Helmar Professional Acid Free Glue 10 years ago, EVERYTHING in my house would be altered, inlcuding the dogs!
Using Helmar liquid adhesives squeezed onto a foam brush, I can adhere things in the smallest of spaces!
Helmar liquid glues (450 Quick Dry, Professional Acid Free and Gemstone Glue to name a few) make altering anything a piece of cake!
One of my favorite aisles in the big box craft stores is the one with all kinds of wood items to paint, stain, alter, etc!
I found these bird house picks a few years ago for 50 cents a piece – I bought a bunch – alter them and give them as gifts attached as a tie-on for gifts, pushed into a plant pot as a housewarming gift (so much better if the plant was rooted from one of your own!)
I created this plant pick using the GCD Melody Ross Artsy Urban pad – soooo De-lish! The trims are from Creative Impressions. I inked my papers using Clearsnap.
My butterfly embellishment is cut from the glittered page of the Melody Ross pad. I cut 2 of the same buterfly and and attached them using a zap dot with a piece of wire run through the middle. I then wrapped the other end of the wire around the plant stake shape base to create a 3-D butterfly.
