Hello Helmar Fans!
Vicky blogging today for the distressing theme we have going on here this week. This was an EASY one for me since almost ALL of my projects have some sort of distressing on them. Many people associate distressing with rustic/grunge styles so I am here to show you the softer, shabby chic, side of distressing. My August Swirlydoos kit was vintage inspired and sooo gorgeous – perfect for this assignment.
First up is a baby picture of my daughter that I've been waiting for the perfect papers to scrap it (7Gypsies Trousseau collection). I used my Zutter-Distrezz-it-all tool to create the rugged white paper edges, tore the corner of the paper and laced it back together, crumpled up some background paper (behind the heart doily) and curled some paper edges. All of these elements really pull together a romantic distressed look don't you think? I love the 2Crafty chipboard too – adds so much!
Now let's talk Helmar adhesives… I used the Premium Craft glue for the paper layers, the adhesive runner for the delicate doily, 450 quick dry for the embellishment, Acid-Free for the photo and Zapdots to raise the title a bit.
Oh and I added some pearls to the middle of the black flowers to add contrast with Helmar gemstone glue too!
For my second distressed project, I went for a softer look to compliment the vintage picture. The little boy is my dad when he first arrived to Canada from Portugal. BTW, aren't those little Prima gates just so cute? Well, Helmar's 450 quick dry is the PERFECT glue for metal embellishments. I used a white-washed distressing technique around the edges of the papers to soften the edges and crumple the paper.
