I initially wanted to make these for Valentine's Day, but chose not to when I thought about how much cuter they would be on the table in the center of our Easter decor. Each year, when I was a kid, my mom would put out faux grass, painted eggs and candies of some sort. While my daughter doesn't care for candy nearly as much as I do, I felt she might still enjoy waking up to the decorated table of the Lollipop flowers. Check them out!
First I folded some cupcake liners to create petals for the flower. The petals don't have to be perfect, not every flower looks exactly alike yanno.. ::smiles:: As I layered the petals, cut one petal or more from each layer to build my flower. As the petals got closer to the center more petals were removed. I also overlapped the end petals and adhered them with Professional Acid Free. After the petals were layered and tacked together with glue and set to dry, I pushed the sticks of the lollipop through the center.
I then folded a piece painted card stock in half and created the outline of a single leaf. I wrapped the leaf around the stick and stuck it to the backside of other leaf with my Professional Acid Free, but not before pushing it snug as a bug underneath the petals.
After that I created a base for my flowers in small paper pots. I used the Foam Glue and I put it all over the top half of the foam ball and inside the pot. I placed the ball in the pot. I stuck the lollipop sucker in the center of the ball with a little more foam glue and sprinkled some flower soft to give it a kind of faux potted look. After I let that dry I adhered some seam binding I personally dyed and then tied it to the individual pots. To secure the seam binding, I used a little dab of Fabric Glue.
