Glitter Splatter and Faux Chipboard with Helmar

Glitter splatter technique and faux chipboard scrapbooking embellishments with Helmar Glue.

Hi everyone! This is my very first post on the Helmar Blog and if you are reading it, I ♥ you!

Now, down to business… I created this layout with American Crafts Amy Tangerine Sketchbook line. I love the wild colours of this line. With paper products, the louder the better as far as I'm concerned!

I did two techniques on this layout that may interest you, or I hope so anyway. I did a Rahel Menig inspired glitter splatter. If you know Rahel's work, you are familiar with this technique. Well, it works amazingly well with Helmar's Gemstone Glue. Here's how:

Glitter Splatter Technique, The Helmar Way

1. Mix equal parts of Helmar Gemstone Glue with water in a small cup. You don't need very much.
2. Grab your favourite glitter and a small paintbrush that you don't particularly care about. I used a turquoise glitter by Maya Road. 
3. Dip your brush in the glue mixture and splatter it randomly on your project. It's best to do this first before you do anything else if you don't want glitter splatter on the other elements that you will be using.
4. Apply the glitter VERY liberally all over the splatters.
5. Shake off the excess and let it dry.
6. To set the glitter, spray your project with Helmar Crystal Kote Fixative or Helmar Crystal Kote Matte Varnish. This stops those gettaway glitter specs! Note that this stuff is also great for setting those scrapbook papers that come with unfinished glitter applied to them.

Now, on to the faux chipboard. Sometimes I like to create my own dimensional elements with a 'chipboard' look to them. Here's how:

Faux Chipboard with Helmar Glue

1. Die cut or freehand cut out a shape several times. In my example, I used my Silhouette Cameo to cut out my title 5 times.
2. Stack the items on top of each other and apply glue in between each piece. I used Helmar Premium Craft glue. You could also use Helmar 450 Quick Dry. Both of these products do the job well. Once they are all glued together, they look like chipboard. Take a look at the closeup shot below.
