I love inspiration boards. Especially those I can look at during the day that either encourages, inspires, or that just makes me happy.What I love more is creating something unexpectedly special from something else. For example, I created this new inspiration board with an IKEA magnetic knife rack.This is a simple afternoon project.
All you need is an IKEA Asker Magnetic Knife Rack, Helmar's 450 Quick Dry Adhesive, magnets, and Advantus Tim Holtz Idea-ology Metal Numbers.
1. First, lay out your non-stick craft sheet (or wax paper will work fine too).
2. Place your magnets on the craft sheet making sure the magnetic side is face down.
3. Add a generous amount of 450 Quick Dry Adhesive on the magnet.
4. Put the metal number on the glue making sure it has contact with the adhesive. Since the number is dimensional on the bottom. If you need to add more glue do so now. Check the number and make sure it is touching the Quick Dry.
5. Let it dry all afternoon. 450 Quick Dry sets fast, but I didn't want to disturb the drying process.
6. While it drys, install your magnetic rack where you would like it by following the manufacturer's instructions. Mine is above my night stand so it is the first and last thing I see every day.
The 450 Quick Dry worked like magic! I can't believe how strong it adhered to the magnets! My four year old has even got a hold of the numbers a few times and they have not fallen apart once (even when all stuck together in a bunch)!
I can't wait to start adding more photos, magazine clippings, quotes, bible verse that I am memorizing, and pretty paper on my new inspiration board! What would you put on yours?
