Halloween Tag

I have not made a tag for a while and thought this would be the perfect time to have a go with a Halloween themed one.  I used lots of techniques on this, it is always a fun size to play around with.

First I had to gather anything that I thought looked creepy. I had the perfect gate die cut from Tim Holts alterations. I started by die cutting it out in black card stock and then to add some texture I added DecoArt crackle glaze. I thought it made it look just the right kind of spooky.. I swiped a bit of Distress ink in spiced marmalade on my craft mat and sprayed with water. Then I did the slap and drag technique with my tag. I did this with about 4 of them added a little Dylusions crushed grape too along the way. Then I just picked the one that I liked to use for my background. I grabbed the Tim Holtz Argyle stencil and added that with a blending tool on the tag.

Then I needed some spider webs. So I grabbed the Helmar Tacky Craft Glue and the fine tip on the top worked excellently for drawing them onto my craft mat. I waited for it to turn clear and then gently pried it off very slowly as to not break them.

See how they are nearly ready and they are turning clear. Once there is no white they are ready to pry off the mat.

I then needed them to be black so I painted them with black Gesso and then a layer of DecoArt Media Paynes Grey. That worked fabulously. I liked the way it added dimension to my tag by popping some black artificial webbing under the Helmar Tacky Craft Glue web.   I also liked the way I could move it around to get it were I thought it was just right.

I added the stamp fromTeesha Moore of the graveyard and then over the top added the black gate using some of the Helmar Tacky Craft Glue.  I was looking for spell book pages and came across this great blog called  G*rated that had a wonderful free printable of spell book pages. So I printed out the poison apple page in a mini size to use on my tag. I spread Helmar Tacky Craft Glue to the back and added it to my tag.  The frame I used was  silver and I painted it with black Gesso and a little DecoArt Metallic lustre in black to give it highlights.  I did the same with the little brads so they matched. Die cut out the 31 with black card stock and painted them also with some of the Metallic lustre. Using more Helmar Tacky Craft Glue I popped them on some patterned paper and put them under my frame.

Then I coloured some white ribbon the same way that I coloured the tag so they matched and then tied it at the top. To finish I used a rub on and added the words Happy Halloween to the bottom of my tag.

Hoping you all have a Happy Halloween.
