Happy Thursday Everyone! Helmar USA Design Team Member, Aymee Gandy, here with you on this beautiful day to share a project I have created using lots of my favorite Helmar goodies!!! How are y'all doing this week?!! I hope you all are enjoying a wonderful week! First, I have to say that this project was inspired by one of our UStream classes held by the talented Becky!!! Earlier this week, Becky shared a beautiful mini album with us on UStream and she featured the Helmar Crackle Medium. If you missed the video and would like to check it out, go HERE. I promise, you will be inspired! The UStream videos are always awesome and if you can, catch them live!! We really have fun chatting it up and always learn something new! Fun fun fun!!!
Anyways, like I said, Becky shared on her video how to use the Helmar Crackle Medium on acrylic. Well I just knew I had to give this a try. I've never worked with the Crackle Medium on acrylic. So I went digging around in my scrappy stash and pulled out a mini album that included 2 acrylic pages. I was so excited to get started!
This album is entitled "It's A Girl" and I will be sending this to a friend who just found out that she and her husband are expecting a baby girl. I am so excited for them and hope they will enjoy this album. This album was just so much fun to create. I used papers and embellishments from Fancy Pants Designs. The colors are not your traditional baby girl colors, but I did try to glam it up as much as I could and I added in pops of pink. This line of paper from Fancy Pants is amazing! I have used it on numerous occasions and always enjoy creating with them. Also, on this mini album I pulled out the Helmar Adhesives like nobody's business! LOL. I used: Helmar V2 Vellum Adhesive, Helmar Zap Dots, Helmar Acid Free Glue, Helmar Quick Fix Adhesive Runner, Helmar 450 Quick Dry, Helmar Liquid Scrap Dots, and Helmar Crackle Medium.
Here is what my finished album looks like:
I began my album by using the Helmar Crackle Medium on each of my acrylic pages for my album. I brushed on each step using a basic foam brush. Step One of the crackle medium takes about 10-20 minutes to dry. It will be tacky once dry. Step Two recommends drying overnight, but I let mine lay in a well ventilated area and my pages were dry within an hour. At this point, I decided to go ahead and decorate them. I knew I did not want to cover up much of my Crackle Medium. It is just so pretty and provides great texture. So I took a piece of the Fancy Pants paper that was on transparency and hand cut out some of the floral designs. Once cut, I turned these over and sprayed them with Helmar V2 Vellum Adhesive. I allowed the glue to set up as recommended for a few minutes and then placed it on my acrylic album pages. It worked like a dream! Stuck perfect! I then embellished with a bit of rhinestones and used Fancy Pants alpha's to add 'It's A Girl' to the front. Here is a view of the front so you can see the fabulous texture of the Crackle Medium.
Page One: This first page is made out of canvas. I cut out a silhouette of a little girl using my Cricut and Sure Cuts A Lot software. I used the Helmar Quick Fix Adhesive Runner on all the paper on the album and adhered the finished silhouette to the canvas page using Helmar 450 Quick Dry Adhesive. I added another clear embellishment from Fancy Pants using Helmar V2 Vellum Adhesive. I added pearls to the silhouette to act as a 'necklace'.
Back of Page One, Front of Page Two: I used Helmar Zap Dots to pop up all of the photo/journaling blocks that you see. I cut these out at the standard wallet size (2 1/2 x 3 1/2). I adhered the ribbon down the side using Helmar 450 Quick Dry Adhesive. I used Helmar Liquid Scrap Dots to adhere my ribbon tie above the sentiment. Page Two is made out of chipboard and I used Helmar Acid Free Glue to adhere all paper to the chipboard pages.
Back of Page Two, Front of Page Three:
Back of Page Three, Front of Page Four: For the back of page three, I used a piece of flocked transparency from Fancy Pants. I adhered this with the Helmar V2 Vellum Adhesive. I have to say, the V2 really got a workout during this crafty session. I was spraying it on everything! I used it on page four as well to adhere the clear frame.
Back of Page Four, Front of Page Five:
Back of Album: Again, used the same techniques as the front of the album. I added my personalized stamp to the back as well. After I added all of the pages back into the original binding, I used some cream colored tulle to tie to each of the rings of the binding.
I would like to thank Becky for her inspiration for this project! I had so much fun using the Crackle Medium! It is definitely a must have!
I hope you have enjoyed this album and that you have a fabulous weekend! Happy Scrappin'!
