I am so excited to share with you a new home school post, just perfect for the Christmas season.
We have been doing less school for December, focusing on giving and creating instead of book work and I have been having fun trying to sneak in some school in an unschool looking way! Today, our Elf on the Shelf, Benny, made something so fun and easy for my girls to learn and play with!
The first thing "Benny" did was cut out some green felt trees. He must be pretty frugal, since next he added some tree trunks made from the samples from a furniture store and some Helmar 450 Quick Dry so it would glue fast and strong.
Next, I (ummmm, Benny) took some cranberry red felt and roughly cut some circles out for counting cranberries.
Next, Benny stitched the cranberries together in different amounts that would go with flashcards he would be making for addition facts.
Next, using some Quick Fix Adhesive Runner, Benny adhered the flash cards he printed to some cardstock… which happens to be all glittery and sparkly!
He focused on skills for a pre-K and K-1 level and will be able to add cards as they are wanted. He added some stars and homemade buttons using Epiphany Crafts tools, as well.
I know these were a hit at my house this morning and so easy for "Benny" to make, too…. hope this inspires some happy and creative learning at your home this holiday!
