Back in 2010, our town was gifted a statue of Abraham Lincoln. Because of his actions during a very trying time in our country's history, the benefactor believed Lincoln was one of our most significant historical figures. All children learn about the Gettysburg address and how Lincoln kept the country together. Mr. Mall felt this piece would be a perfect fit for our small town.
I decided to do a fun layout highlighting the sculpture using a variety of embellishments from my stash!
For this layout I chose my Helmar Acid Free Glue.
I began by printing the photo on an old book page using the text of the Gettysburg address for the background. I had the idea to recreate a headline of a large crowd as Lincoln visited. I grabbed my Tim Holtz Paper Dolls which were perfect for creating a crowd of townspeople. I even added a toddler to the bench. The Acid Free glue is perfect for dense papers like these paper dolls.
Using a scallop circle punch, I created flowers from various pattern papers and added them and real pennies to the layout using the same glue.
You can see all of these flowers and elements which I used. We are lucky to have benefactors like this in our town!
Do you have anything unique in your town? Have you scrapped it? Don't be afraid to try something different like I did!
