Today's project is a simple yet lovely lavender sachet, gone are the days when sachets were hidden away amongst our delicates (although they still can be), today they can be used as gifts in themselves. They can be placed inside greeting cards, amongst a box of craft supplies or even placed inside a journal to keep the pages smelling lovely.
What you will need:
Helmar Craft Glue, scissors, lavender, tulle, eyelets, eyelet setter, decorative papers (I used Kaisercraft 'Rose Avenue Collection' and Couture Creations 'Cest La Vie Collection). If you have cutting dies you can use them but you can also just cut out your shape with scissors.
Firstly I cut out my shapes with a dies cutting machine using tag shaped dies. You will need two larger shapes with a hole in the centre for each sachet. I also cut out some smaller pieces to make mini tags.
Next you will need to cut your tulle to size, place a folded piece of tulle over the opening in the paper and and adjust it to fit. I made mine with the fold to the side.
Using Helmar Craft Glue and on the wrong side of your paper, apply glue around the edge of the cutout in your paper and then place your tulle on top, gently press the tulle to the glue and allow time to dry.
Once dry, apply more Helmar Craft Glue to three sides of the cutout leaving an opening on one side. (between the arrows in the picture below)
Fold over the tulle, gently press it into the glue and allow to dry.
When the glue has thoroughly dried you will then add your lavender.
Slightly bend your paper to allow the spoon to fit inside, fill your sachet enough so that the cutout will be full but not 'bulging'.
Once you are happy with the amount, carefully apply a bead of Helmar Craft Glue inside the open edge of the tulle along the edge of the paper and press down firmly.
Take your second piece of paper and on the wrong side, apply Helmar Craft Glue around all the edges (inner edge and outer edge). Place this paper piece on top of the paper with the lavender and press together. Gently flatten out and arrange the lavender with the shape.
Attach an eyelet to the top of the sachet if desired. With the leftover paper pieces I made some small tags to attach to the top so that I could write a small note or name on the reverse side and joined them together with a pin. Some pretty ribbon and lace would make a lovely touch also.

Of course you don't have to limit yourself to lavender, you could also add potpourri to compliment the seasons and of course you can make them in any shape you desire with embellishments to match. If you enjoy sewing you could also run a stitch around them for added detail.
