It is funny, I never really did sketches before I was on the Helmar Team, and well with a year now under my belt, I have done quite a few now. I love how the sketch evolves with little substitutions such as the star instead of the heart on mine. I do like to stick to them as much as possible, and I think that is what I love about them too, they are just so easy to get done. They are probably the quickest layouts I do because most of the design thought is taken away.
Here is this month's sketch by Lydell Qinn:

And here is my take on the sketch…
To create this one I enlisted the help of my Helmar 450 Quick Dry, Helmar Acid Gree glue, Helmar Acrylic Sealer and we can't forget my Helmar Liquid Scrap dots (just wish my tube was as full as this one still!)
I started out creating the layout by stamping a foam stamp into some red paint to create the background strips. When dry I lightly painted a little white gesso over them with my finger to bring up some of the texture . I then added the paper elements of the page with my Helmar Acid free glue. I matted the photos using some Helmar 450 Quick dry as it has a very low water content so wont wrinkle them but adhere them down very well. I then added the photos with the help of some Helmar Liquid Scrap Dots for some dimension.
I also added the little stars with some Helmar Liquid Scrap Dots. The the stars were so tiny it was the only product you could use without it being seen.
I painted the chipboard title and fasteners (by Scrapware) and then applied a coat of Helmar Acrylic Sealer. It is a great deal cheaper than Glossy Accents and Diamond Glaze and gives a nice glossy finish. You can even apply more coats to build it up for more gloss. It dries a great deal quicker too!

Last thing I did was add my journalling. I did have a bit of extra strips on the bottom right due to some paint going astray whilst making the background, but it is never really hard to make a mistake work!
Thanks Lydell for another great sketch. As you can already see you can adapt a sketch in very different ways with the shares so far by Lydell, Martha and myself all being very different!
So what are you waiting for…. get your glue out and start creating! Remember, add your sketch onto Helmar's Facebook page for a chance to win a prize!
Happy Creating!
