Good morning everyone – Mel here - grab your coffee or tea (mine is in my mug infront of me!) and sit back and spend a few moments being inspired by the wonderful team here at Helmar!! This week we got to play with the fun and funky papers and stamps by Susan Weckesser and the moment my girls saw them they wanted them!!!
Now we couldn't decide which papers to use as my youngest daughter wanted all of them.. so we decided to cover a lazy susan tool caddy I found a few weeks ago and to fussy cut out all the flowers and images. After giving it a quick spray with white gesso it was ready to be covered.
First up is working out the size of the paper to be cut to cover each side of the tool caddy – Here I trace around the outside of the side and then line it up to work out how much of each edge to cut away and the centre piece… I can then use it as a guide to cut out the rest of the sides…
After inking all the edges we were ready to go!First up I use the Helmars Decoupage and Craft Paste – love this – so easy to paint onto OTP projects and it seals your projects as well! Perfect for this tool caddy.
I started from the inside first so not to get my hands to messy! Once the paper had been stuck on I did another coat over the top just to seal it.
Once all the sides were covered my little assistant chose where she would like the flowers, sun, kite etc placed on the caddy…. Simply use a little more of the paste and voila all done!!!
We did have a flower left over so quickly made up a spare birthday card by mounting it on some foam tape and adding some tiny alpha's!! Too easy and pretty funky too if I don't say so myself!
