Just over one week and counting until the big day!!! I am so excited for Christmas!! I am almost finished shopping … but have yet to start wrapping! Can you tell it's going to be a nutso week around my place for the next 7 days!! 🙂
I am usually a layouts only kinda gal. I rarely enjoy projects that do not include photo's and journaling. But this year… the home decor bug has bitten me bad! I have had a complete blast making Christmas decorations! Wreaths, tree ornaments, miniature trees!! Loving it! Today I want to share with you a SUPER simple tree that I created using some Walmart finds and the fabulous Helmar adhesives!
I have been enjoying seeing all of the different ways people have been designing the mini styrofoam trees this year! It got my creative juices flowing… here is what i came up with!
I began with a basic middle sized styrofoam tree. I used 2 meters of eyelet lace from Walmart. I began at the bottom applying Helmar 450 quickdry to the lace and adhering it to the tree. I wound it around in a spiral motion… moving upward until I reached the top. I made sure to leave a decent space between the rows, not worrying about leaving a bit of a gap. I then went to work with the buttons!! Again… from Walmart! I applied lots of Helmar 450 quickdry between the rows of lace and adhered a row of buttons. From bottom to top, just like with the lace! So simple!
While this was drying, i grabbed a clear acrylic star and sprayed it with V2 Vellum Adhesive. After letting it sit for about 5 minutes to get tacky, I sprinkled both sides with PK Glitz glitter! I painted a short length of wooden skewer with white paint and let it dry as well. To adhere the star to the tree, I split one end of the painted skewer and inserted the star. The other end of the skewer was inserted into the top of the tree! Easy Peasy!
On the bottom of the tree I added a double tier of 1/2 inch round Zap dots to give the tree a little bit of lift off the table.
And that is it!! It looks so elegant sitting on my piano amongst the greenery and holly berries!
