Pirates Arrrr Pirates Page with Tamiko

Hey Hey Good PEOPLE, Tamiko here!!  I hope you all are doing well and are enjoying this autumn weather!!  As for me and my household, we are thoroughly enjoy the brisk days, wearing sweaters and going outside to watch the leaves change and fall.  I am also doing anything and everything I can NOT to eat Halloween candy before Halloween (laughs out loud)!! Which is why my daughter Brook and I decided I would create a fun pirate art journal page.  Check it out!!!

 Items used for this project

I began by taking the Decoupage Paste which comes rather thick and adding a wee bit of water and mixing it till I was the consistency of milk. I added water because the paste is naturally thick for heavier papers and I will be using napkins and very lightweight decoupage papers for this project. Here I made sure I separated the pattern page from the extra 2 ply layers of napkins before I layered it to the journal.

After I layered the napkin, I added a second layer of patterned paper and overlapped parts of the napkin.  While the papers were still we with decoupage paste, I sprinkle a little glitter!  Yayyyy Glitter, now we are cooking with gas!!   While the lower half of the page is drying, I applied a few layers of acrylics for our light blue green sky.  I didn't need to, but I let the page dry over night.

I then bought some digi images I have totally been loving from Vera Lanes Etsy Store!  I played with the sizing on my pc before I printed them on cardstock and colored them.  After fussy cutting them out, I had to add some glitter to my pirates and birds too!!  I used a smaller brush and applied someHelmar's Super Tac Glue to the images.  I shook some glittter on generously and dropped the access back in my container.   I immediately dropped my brushes in water with a little oil soap so I didnt ruin the brushes after using them in glue.  After they were dry enough for me, I used the Super Tac Glue to adhere the images to the background in the art journal. EE so cute!!!  I let that dry for a few hours, since I had to eat dinner anyhow.. ::smiles::

I have been taking some online classes over at Skillshare.com learning how to try to make bouncy lettering with Teela Cunningham.  I will admit this is my first time using it and I messed up, but hey I will only do better once I practice, practice, practice, yanno??? The wording here reads Why are pirates called pirates?  They just Arrrrrrrr!! (get it?? Pirates and Arrrrr hahaha)  So cute!! Check out these final photos.. ::smile::
