Today I get to share my first project on another new term on the Helmar design team – and all I can say is how ecstatic I am to be part of this wonderful team once again! There truly is so much awesome talent on this team that I just feel so humbled!
Today I thought I would share with you an album I created for a dear friend of mine. They recently had a ‘Dedication’ for her (similar to a Christening) and asked us to help share their very special and precious day with them to celebrate it.
We went to the beautiful service and I was fortunate enough to take some photos of the ceremony as well as afterwards with the Parents and God Parents. It was a special time for them and so I had decided that as part of our gift to their little Zoe, that I would make an album to document the special day.
I started off with one of those MDF chipboard albums, but it just wasn’t happening for me. Then I looked over and saw a stack of CD’s and thought ‘That is it!!’ I’ll cover the CD’s to make the album.
I covered the CDs with paper using my Helmar Premium Craft Glue on both sides and then using my Zutter I created the holes for the binding and just quickly sanded the edges.
I then used my trusty Helmar 450 Quick Dry and Liquid Scrap Dots to adhere the embellishments and flowers. I also used my Helmar Tape Runner to adhere the photos to the album as well. To ensure a stronger cover I decided to coat the cover with Helmar Step 1 and Step 2 crackle. This gives a beautiful feel as well as protecting the outside at the same time. I just loved the size of the album in the end big enough, but not HUGE that they would have to find some special box or place for it. It is also easy to handle at that size. The CD’s came in so handy for this album, and I will definitely give this a go with the abundance of old CD’s I have.
