I thought I might stick with my little altering phase this time around, but I also wanted to create something that is simple but so pretty and most importantly something that anyone can do. I know that for me personally it can be so inspiring to see amazing DT blogs, but it can also be exciting to see something that anyone can achieve. (Let's be honest some DT projects out there in blog land, are amazing, but beyond the average scrapper).
This pretty little project is something that even the kids can create.I began with a raw timber frame from Ikea. This is a great project to do with some left over paper. You'll also need your Favourite Helmar liquid adhesive and some Helmar Crackle Medium.
First up, I gave it a light sand to clean it up, and then gave it a coat of paint. Don't forget the back and the little stand (dowel rod). Once dry, adhere paper to the front of the frame using Helmar Professional Acid Free Glue. Use a spreader (or even something like an old credit card to get an even covering of adhesive. Once dry, trim the paper and if you like, sand the edges to neaten them up.
Next, apply a coat of Helmar Crackle Medium Step 1 and allow to dry for about 20 minutes. (It will still be tacky to touch). Next apply a coat of Helmar Crackle Medium Step 2 and set aside to dry (overnight is best). Be generous with step 2, although regardless of how obvious the crackle effect is, it gives your finished project a really nice glossy seal.
Once dry, adhere your embellishments. I wasn't in a big hurry so I used my Helmar Professional Acid Free Glue (although if you are short on time, I would recommend Helmar 450 Quick Dry adhesive).
Make sure that everything is completely dry before replacing the glass. Enjoy with your favourite photo, or perhaps a favourite rubon quote. How perfect would this quick and easy project be as a gift for someone special!
