Hello everyone Vicki-Ann here, today I have a canvas for you to see. It is 16 x 12 inches and I had a lot of fun with this one..
I used a Donna Downey stencil and some Modeling paste with a pallet knife to add that textured pattern. Painted the whole thing in 3 different shades of blue. It really made the texture pop. I added some Rubons from Kaisercraft they are always a great way to add some patterns and the Kaisercraft ones work so well. I always spread Helmar Decoupage & craft paste over the top of rubons to make sure they are well sealed.
Then some splashes of white and blue paint with a fan brush.
I used 2 different stamps one was a newspaper print, both from Prima and stamped randomly to add texture all in Black Momento ink.
For the collage part of my canvas the papers used are from a kit from Frosted designs. I love the way by using a kit that the papers are already matched for you. I cut some of them up and distressed all the edges and inked them with Tea Stain Distress Ink. I pieced them together in a way I thought looked ok using a tiny bit of Helmar Tacky Craft Glue here and there just to hold it. Then let that completely dry. I then sewed them together with my sewing machine.
I spread more of the Helmar Tacky Craft Glue on the back of the collage and pressed it onto my canvas. I added a little more glue than normal as I had all that texture in the background to contend with. It all dries clear and make sure you spread it out right to all the corners.
I liked this quote that was also in the kit.
In character,
in manner,
in style,
in all things,
the supreme excellence is simplicity.
By Henry Wordsworth Longfellow.
I think all the blues make it soothing to look at. Sometimes when you do something it is hard to know when to stop. I had intended to do a lot more to this but when I got to here it just looked finished.
With all my canvas's I always finish off with 2 layers of Helmar Crystal Kote Matte Spray Varnish. This gives your canvas a fabulous seal and protects it from dirt, dust and fading.
