Hello all! Can you believe that March is over and in just a few short days it will be Easter?! Crazy how the seasons just roll together and time passes so quickly. Also I can't believe I don't have much Easter decor.
To solve that problem I've started a few Easter/Spring projects to dress up my living room. Among them is this egg box I'm sharing with you today.
I found a few boxes in the Silhouette store and had my Silhouette do all the hard work for me in cutting out the box. The bottom is cut from white cardstock and the top from pink.
Once cut out I assembled everything with Helmar 450 Quick Dry Adhesive. Hands down the best adhesive to use when putting projects like this together. The adhesive grabs quickly and dries in no time.
This is the sides of the box after they are glued together into a circle. The small tabs are then pushed inwards.
I applied Helmar 450 Quick Dry Adhesive around the perimeter of the bottom and then pressed it into the circle so the tabs could be pressed into the adhesive.
Once the adhesive dries the other bottom piece is added for a nice clean finish.
The top of the box is the same process as the bottom only I decided to added a piece of transparency between the layers. I used Helmar 450 Quick Dry Adhesive to glue the top to the transparency and then cut around before gluing it to the top.

Now for the embellishing . . . always my favorite part!
I loaded a sheet of vellum and cut flowers. Again letting my Silhouette do all the hard work for me (I'm not sure how I ever crafted before this baby).
Once the vellum pieces are gently removed from the mat I added a little coloring with a Faber-Castell big brush marker. The coloring job doesn't need to be clean. Honestly the rough edges add to the textured look of the finished flower.
Once the marker dries I started in with a dowel and push the centers in before rolling the petals into the center to add dimension.
I scrunched up the smallest size tight to create a closed center.
Add just a dab of Helmar 450 Quick Dry Adhesive in between each layer of the flower.
I then cut a length of ribbon and attached it and the flower to the top of the box.
The petals I cut apart and tucked each under the flower.
I decided to add some small gemstones and pearls to the top. I carefully used the Helmar Gemstone Glue and added small drops where I wanted to place the pearls.
I did the same thing for the rest of the gemstones. Once finished I wrapped the ribbon around to the back and tied it in a bow. I decided to secure it this way just in case I ever want to open the box I could do it easily.
I love the soft elegance the flower and gemstones add and am excited to put a few more together to place across my mantle.
