Sublime Peace

Hi Everyone

Welcome to another month already – I cant believe how fast this year as gone so far.

I have started to make gifts already for my family since it is only 82 sleeps until Christmas!

One of my Aunties loves butterflies so when I saw these serviette napkins I knew what I wanted to do …..

so i gathered my supplies of a canvas and the napkins along with

Helmar  V2 Vellum Spray,  Helmar 450 Quick Dry Glue and Helmar Acid Free Glue, Helmar Liquid Scrap Dots, some chipboard words (Dusty Attic), flowers, a metal bird (was a magnet) and butterfly pebbles (Tattered Inspirations).

The napkins are 3 ply so I pulled the bottom two layers away from the top – I used these white pieces as my scrunched background on the canvas. Use the Helmar Acid free Glue with a paint brush to spread the glue and scrunch the tissues paper up at the same time (leave aside to dry then coat with a layer of gesso to keep it white- you can use any paint or glimmer mist or anything to colour it – but I wanted to keep it white)

Cut out the pieces you want to out of the napkin design – I cut out the butterflies and the birdcage.  Using the Helmar V2  Vellum spray, spray the back of the piece and place onto the clear accetate. Smooth out using your fingers, when dry cut around the butterflies and fold where the body is to make the wings stand up – use Helmar Liquid scrap dots to adhere to the canvas along the bodypiece.

The Birdcage is attached using the Liquid scrap dots – more in the middle of the cage to make it rounded and shaped. Then I have added some of the green piece of the napkin and decorated with the flowers, pebbles, and chipboard swirls and words.

Now just to wrap it and put it away….

Have you got any gifts you have started to make?
