Hey folks! The weekend is upon us and so is Mother's Day! To me a mother is NOT just someone who gives birth, but also someone who cares for you and aids in your upbringing. So on this Mother's Day I will be with my mom and aunts and my very own daughter. I will be in reflection of the wonderful women in my life, past and present and their impact on me. On to my Mother's Day submission.
My original project didn't quite go as I expected. so as I searched for something else worthy of the day I went into Michael's for inspiration and some clay ::chuckles:: I saw the cutest corrugated board words. I chose the MOM with the heart shaped letter O. I had never done an altered letter before but I knew this would be cool to try. I knew I wanted to get out my Helmar Decoupage & Craft Paste. This products is awesome! It's thick enough for thicker cardstock or you can dilute it with water and use it on thinner papers, if you like. I took some old book pages and placed them on the bottom half of letters only. It dries clear and pretty fast too!
After I had all the book paper down.. I added some Deco Art Gesso in white and then some color with my Neocolors II (a water soluble crayon). Once all was dry I painted the base of the letters with some Deco Art Media Black Gesso. I grabbed my Helmar 450 Quick Dry Adhesive and added a few rows of black mesh bling. We are gluing plastic so I wanted something a little stronger and 450 is it!
I grabbed a bunch of flowers, leaves and some sprays to embellish my project with. They are all made of paper so I switched yet again to another white glue. The Helmar Craft and Hobby PVA goes on thin and it adheres quickly. A little goes a long way with this one.
Once I got finish with the flowers, I did a little stenciling with the Andy Skinner Mixed Media stencil called "Children". I added the Signo Unibal white gel pen markings and framed my edges with my black gelato.
Create beautiful memories that will last a life time, Create them with Helmar Adhesives!
