Happy Birthday America!!! Happy Fourth of July! God Bless the USA! So many salutations to commemorate the day. This year doesn't feel so celebratory to me. Our nation that was founded by immigrants is struggling. Our people are angry and divided. Hopefully the day will be full of brotherly love and in remembrance that together we conquer divided we fall. On to the project..
Supply list includes:
Patriotic Napkins
Copier Paper
Deco Art Glamour Dust
Dylusions Art Journal
Doll Stamps
Archival Ink
Neocolors II
Acrylic paints and markers
empty container, water, scissors and paint brushes
Part of the decoupage process to the stamped images can be seen on my periscope channel found here!. As with any napkin decoupage project I would ALWAYS thin the decoupage paste. The decoupage paste is made for heavier paper in mind and it truly is easier to thin a product then to thicken. I first divide my napkins, keeping the top layer with the patriotic design. I keep the others too, they go in my stash for creating handmade papers. ::smiles:: Here in collage photo below I show the thinning of the paste and how I applied the paste to the base (whether that be the copier paper or the journal). Place the napkin down and pat it lightly allowing it and substrate to make contact. I added another layer of decoupage paste and even sprinkled some glamour dust (super duper fine glitter) on the copier paper section to add shimmer to my dolls clothes I planned to make.
In my journal I began to loosely sketch my whimsey version of lady liberty.
Only once Lady Liberty was sketched would I have any idea as to where add my paper dolls. I stuck them down to the journal's surface with my Helmar Super Tac. looking at them they almost remind of the female group that use to sing at the USOs to US soldiers abroad, The Andrew Sisters.
and here they are…
Added some final touches of acryllic paints and neocolor IIs and my page was complete.
I hope you all have a pleasant holiday! Be safe, drink responsibly and enjoy! Remember to embellish your art journal pages one item at a time by visiting Helmar Worlwide and checking out it's plethora of adhesives!
