Hi everyone, Beck Beattie here again to share my recent play with some divine Faber-Castell Pastel Pencils on yet another Helmar project. I created this layout of my little boy on a recent trip to the local playground with my boys. I love that the photos really captured his fun loving nature that we simply adore.
I must say that I felt rather challenged at first to have a play with the pencils and incorporate them into my my work. That didn't last long though as all it took was a little play with them on some paper for me to get moving. I just loved how easy and mess free they were to work with. The pastel quality also was amazing. These are the two colours I worked with to create this background.
So I started to create the background to my layout by using the lighter coloured pastel pencil to trace 'chicken wire' stencil. I did mark where I wanted my photos to go to save me time not having to colour where the photos were going to cover.
I then added in some more colour with the lighter pencil followed by a darker shade in the same colour for more depth. On the right you can see a more subtle smudgy effect, this was done by rubbing over it after colouring in a circular motion. I did this to all of it.
I then got busy laying out the photos making sure the background was complete in every part you could see around the photos.
I then added some paper embellishments to work out if I needed to extend the backround colouring.
And now enter Helmar Acid Free Glue, Helmar 450 Quick Dry and Helmar Liquid Scrap Dots to put this layout together and create some awesome dimension to the layout!
With the help of these Helmar products I was able to adhere the flat pieces with some Helmar Acid Free Glue, add height with Helmar Liquid Scrap dots and add details such as the twine with the Helmar 450 Quick Dry.
I really enjoyed creating this layout as a partnership between two awesome brands. Got to have the right product for the right job and Helmar and Faber-Castell are a breeze!
